Screening of PIVAC (Rooster) and Panel Discussion

The Association of Film Workers, the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, and International Burch University came together to screen the short film PIVAC (Rooster) as part of the global 16 Days of Activism and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Students from the Faculty of Education, along with faculty members and invited guests, attended the event, which opened with remarks by Mirela Viteškić-Hadžihalilović from the Ministry, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in combating gender-based violence.

Following the screening, a panel discussion brought forward meaningful reflections on the role of art in driving social change, the ethical obligations of media reporting, and the ongoing challenges of violence and femicide in the region.

Director Sabrina Begović Ćorić and screenwriter Melina Alagić from the Department of Film and Video Production shared insights into the creative process behind PIVAC. Professor Nidzara Ahmetasevic from the Department of Digital Communications and PR offered powerful testimony and insight into violence and police brutality, underscoring the urgency of the issue. The session was moderated by Professor Adem Olovčić from Department of International Relations and European Studies.
