Last week, International Burch University hosted a screening of the documentary Silence of Reason by award-winning North Macedonian director Kumjana Novakova, who also joined the event as a guest speaker. The screening was organized by Professor Nidžara Ahmetašević from the Department of Digital Communications and Public Relations.
The film, composed entirely of forensic visual archives and testimonies of women from the Foča rape camps, offers a powerful reflection on war crimes and the importance of collective memory.
Following the screening, students engaged in an open discussion with the director, exploring the creative process behind the film, the challenges of working with sensitive topics, and the role of art in confronting the past.
The event brought together students from the Departments of Digital Communications and Public Relations, Graphic Design and Multimedia, Film and Video Production, and International and Regional Studies.
